21st Birthday & Reflections

So, I have been naughty. I have not gone so long without posting at least once a week for the longest time and am deeply disappointed in myself. However, let me give you a recap of the past couple of days so you get a handle on why (still won’t be an excuse, but anyways).

This past week has been my last week of classes for the semester, so with that comes a lot of end-of-the-year due dates and whatnot. I have 3 final exams ahead of me, but that doesn’t start until Thursday. Most significantly, Saturday I turned 21!! Watch out. I am officially legal! To be honest, it does not seem real. I still feel like a 12 year old, but here I am. I survived for 21 years on this planet.

To be honest, I hate my birthday because I despise being the center of attention and celebrating me for an entire day seems excessive. However, as 21 is a monumental event, I gave in to throwing a small celebration (with lots of convincing and encouragement from my roomie). On Saturday, a hodgepodge of some of my closest friends came out to celebrate with me. We started off the night with some drinks at my apartment and then headed out to Olde City district in Philadelphia and hit up Cuba Libre. Although I didn’t have a chance to eat there, I can attest for their drinks and they are indeed very good. The atmosphere was amazing and they played bomb ass Spanish/club music. We went to National Mechanics after, which was popping.

And here I am now. Reflecting on the night via this blog post. I ended up eating greasy, glorious Chinese food at like 4 AM and I honestly think it was how I survived basically hangover free (which almost never happens). I am incredibly glad I took the time to celebrate my birthday and am so grateful for all of my friends.

Blue Dream

Rocksbox necklace (use code ‘mskerihxoxo’ for 1st month free!)

I have always wanted to try out the classic “Canadian tuxedo” look and I thought this was a pretty subdued way of trying it out. I paired an old chambray shirt with my favorite pair of blue dreams. Overall, I think this outfit is relaxed and perfect for a brunch date. Also, I was clearing feelin’ myself when I took these pictures so ignore my face LOL. Hope you’re all having a good week!

Review: Rocksbox

To be honest, jewelry was never something I invested a lot of money in. Normally, I would find myself getting costume jewelry from places like Forever 21 because it was so affordable. When it broke or turned on me a few weeks/months later, I was not mad because I expected it to happen. Needless to say, when Rocksbox reached out to me I was thrilled. Designer jewelry I could wear?! This was absurd.

If you have never heard of Rocksbox before, it is a jewelry subscription company. For a mere $19 a month, you take a personal style quiz and a representative will send you a collection of jewelry based on your preference. My box included pieces from House of Harlow ($78), Slate ($65) and Soko ($54). You can wear them for as long as your like and when you want a change, all you have to do is send the pieces back (for free) and a new Rocksbox with different jewelry will replace it! If you’re feeling a certain piece, you can keep it and they will charge you accordingly.
Honestly, I feel like I have come along way from cheap jewelry. I no longer have to worry about breakage or my skin turning green! Rocksbox is a great, versatile way to add something different to your wardrobe. The best part, you can use my code mskerihxoxo to get your first month FREE. Yay free things!!

Panda

Tobi Sweet Intentions Sheath Dress (here)
Back at it again with another cute dress from Tobi! I love the simplicity of this dress and how you can easily dress it up or dress it down. I decided to give it a more urban vibe with my favorite bomber jacket. Also, I made it a bit more conservative for daytime wear by layering a black tank top underneath, but you can easily skip this step and you are ready for a night out! Be sure to check out all the other products Tobi has to offer here:

Monthly Favorites: March

Hello, lovelies! Can you believe I managed to get two months favorites in a row? Crazy. This past month was filled predominately with school I feel like. This semester has been a struggle due to a cumulation of spring fever and procrastination. However, I am hanging in there. I had a few favorite things I wanted to share with you so let’s get into it.

1. Laneige Perfect Renew (Trial Kit)

Although I got this in towards the end of March, I could not help falling in love with it. I finally found the perfect trial kit (here) to test out some magical Korean skincare. I have been layering all 5 products on my skin at night before bed. My skin honestly has never been better!  I have dry skin so this has done a superb job in retaining moisture and making my skin softer. If you want me to do a more in-depth review later, let me know!

2. Dope

I spent a weekend sick, so naturally I had some time to kill. I have been meaning to watch this movie (on Netflix) for awhile now because I heard so many good reviews and because my man A$AP Rocky is in it, haha. A coming-of age movie about Malcom, a 90s rap obsessed high schooler, who happens to get caught in a bad situation that spirals into a crazy adventure. Because of this, he could easily fall victim to the gangs and bad influences of his neighborhood.

3. 3001: A Laced Odyssey by Flatbush Zombies

Last month was TLOP and this month is all about FBZ. I had this album on repeat for the majority of the time. If you are into kind of trippy, chill rap — give this album a listen. Their lyrics are witty and they definitely offer something different to the hiphop game.

4. Graphic T-Shirts

Throughout the entire month, my go-to outfit has been a graphic t-shirt and distressed jeans. I recently scored this awesome vintage Mustang shirt from Urban. I love how effortlessly chic it is. Graphic tees are such an easy way to throw together a stylish & interesting outfit!
